Another awful disaster! Terrible planning and another good reason why we should covert to cleaner energy

I think that a lot of incompetent people are responsible, not all of them from BP. There are a million things they could have done to prevent it and every single one was overlooked. I wonder how many other times they’ve ignored the advice of scientists and engineers to save money!

It’s aweful and destroying so much wilflife!!!
I hope they can clean up most of the mess at some point but I guess they won’t be able to repair the damages that have been done.

      bad. Very bad.

It’s still leaking 2.5 million gallons A DAY. Gulf-side tourism is down, animals are dying, fisheries are getting destroyed–and those are just the effects right now. There could be massive effects we aren’t even imagining now. As Obama pointed out, this is going to be “a long epidemic rather than a single crushing disaster such as an earthquake or hurricane, he said the nation could be tied up with the spill and its aftermath for months ‘and even years.'”

Hi, same question as another, this was my answer,
I think this is a terrible environmental disaster and am absolutely astonished that there was no contingency plan and they don’t have a good solution to the problem. Most big engineering projects would be required to prove that they can survive every situation, and have an answer to failures. This cleary isn’t the case for these big oli rigs and that is very very scary.

I think that they need to pool together the best engineers from around the world to develop a solution. These should include NASA who are able to use robots in space, aeroplane designers who have to ensure that the plane is safe etc.
