I think there are many positive and negative aspects. Although as a whole I think we need to curb our reproduction somewhat

I stole my own answer to another similar question:

I think it should be available for people who would like to use it. But I don’t think people who don’t support stem cell use and research should support IVF, or ever use it. Also, whether or not the government should pay for IVF is a whole other can of worms! I also believe that same sex couples should be allowed to use IVF.

There are also way too many kids who don’t have loving homes. I completely understand the draw to wanting your very own kids (it’s deeply biological…) but consider adopting!

Well, I think it’s a good thing for couples who really want to have kids but for some reason cannot conceive naturally. It’s also great for homosexual couples.

But: I think it is really stupid if quite old persons (over 45 – I mean too old for reproduction) do it so that they can still have a child. I always find it a bit irresponsible of people. Think: if you give birth aged 50 you will be 70 once your child is 20. How much support can you give it? Do you still have enough nerves and patience for it? And your risk of getting a serious (maybe even fatal) disease in that age is very high – not very nice for your child …

I think adoption is a good option (actually the better one) to have a child too but I can also understand people who want their own.

I think that it is a good thing when treated with respect. Like everything, there are pros and cons, but scientific advantages shouldn’t be dismissed just because they’re new – imagine our lives if we had always rejected the latest scientific knowledge!
