I guess its because of the fan base… if no one enjoyed watching football the footballers would not be able to demand so much money, same goes for movie stars

That’s the principle of capitalism – people are willing to pay lots of money to go and see football games and lots of people watch it on TV so they get money for adverts. People will become Doctors and Nurses without much pay because they want to do it. It’s not fair, but it’s the best we got!

That’s a question I am aksing myself quite often too. I guess the football players risk their health and kind of give everything for the sport. Also they are public persons, which brings many disadvantages (always been followed by paparazis, hard to get privte life etc).

But I agree, doctors and nurses do a much more important and essential job. Probably there is way too many of them to get them the same amount of money.

ALso doctors and nurses don’t have sponsors – a lot of the big footbaal players advertise products and get payed loads for that.

it is supply and demand – people pay lots of money for football, there is lots of advertising associated and so the costs are driven up. It’s pretty crazy but remember that there is value to leisure such as football. Having said that, for most people, job satisfaction is worth an enormous amount – people spend so much time working it is really important to enjoy it and believe what you are doing is right, which I imagine, nurses, doctors, teachers etc will feel.
